✅ B&K Filter Placement:

·         The filter is placed at the pond side and by means of a suitable pump (not included in delivery) connected with the water. The water circulates through the filter and the UV-device and after being cleaned it is led again into the pond.

✅ Fundamental functionality :

·         Pond filter combines the mechanical and biological cleaning. Microorganisms settle on the filter material and remove germs and bacteria from the water. By mechanical filtering, suspended particles and dirt remain in the pond filter and by this means no longer return to the pond water.

·         It takes about 4–6 weeks, until Filter Bacteria have sufficiently colonized the bio pond filter. Only thereafter it is advisable to switch on a UVC Pond Clarifier. Starter bacteria help to shorten the start-up phase of a new filter. Starter bacteria refer to microorganisms especially grown in a laboratory. By adding them, you can shorten the start-up phase considerably. Bacteria are active above a temperature of approximately 10–12 °C, the pond filter´s temperature should exceed 40 °C. So the pond filter should be placed in the shadow and not be exposed to direct sunlight.

·         UVC-pond clarifiers irradiate the water in a flow-through reactor with UV rays. The UV-C radiation destroys the swimming algae. The algae agglutinate to large particles and ca be easily removed by means of mechanical filtering. Our UVC clarifiers modify the tertiary and the quaternary structure of the algae proteins by means of UV-radiation. This means the destruction of the algae which can be removed from the water by pond filters.

✅ Safety Guidelines:

·         Dangerous ultraviolet radiation. The UV rays are harmful to your eyes and skin. Never operate the UV lamp outside the container.

·         The filter should be placed at least 2m from the edge of the pond in order to prevent the filter falling into the pond.

·         Before running the filter, the pump should be turned on first. The UV lamp must be operated with water flowing through it. Do not use the filter if the connecting is leaking, uv lamp or casing is broken.

·         Never open the casing of the UV or its accessories unless expressly directed to do so in the instruction.

·         The electrical data of the supply must correspond to the data on the label. 6. Make sure that the filter is equipped with a measured fault current not greater than 30mA via a fault current protection switch (FI or RCD).

·         Please always disconnect the plugs of the filter and all other devices that are in the water before you do any work in the water.

·         For your own safety, contact an electrician if you have any questions or problems with the electrical connection.

·         Never immerse the device in water.

·         10.Electrical installations near garden ponds must comply with international and national installation guidelines.

·         Keep the connecting points dry.

·         Do not carry or pull the filter by its connecting cable. Protect the connecting cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.

·         Lay the hoses and connecting cables in such a way that they are not an obstacle and do not become damaged.

·         Never filter any liquids other than water.

·         If it is a frost day, you have to remove the filter.

·         Install the filter where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight.
